A giant of mystery – Ampeg SVT-215E

Why would anyone use such a gonzo title to write a few lines about an ordinary bass guitar cabinet? Especially when it’s from Ampeg who are one of the, if not the biggest supplier of bass amps & cabinets in the world?
Well, because it is extremely hard to gather any information about this very product as even Ampegs own homepage holds no data (sic!) about the SVT-215E. So what are we looking at here?

Coming in the same size as the infamous SVT-810 this certain cab has approximately been manufactured in the late 90s though the code of the serial, according to ampegv4.com can not precisely be deconstructed. According to word of mouth all 215s have been made in the US and Ampeg has stopped this product range when the production was moved to China.

After all, it came in a case BUT had some undeniable tracks of road-experience on it. So it was a quick guessing that this cab has been going places. But as you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover let’s go straight to sound of it.

Conclusion: some clarity would be helpful. What we can say is that it’s pretty rare. Not quite as rare the the SVT-GS (Gene Simmons Signature model) of which about only 50 items have been made…
